Why Did I Become a Wellness Coach?
I have been a supporter, cheerleader, and admirer of strong, ambitious women for my entire life. Before I became their coach – I was their co-dependent. Stuck in endless cycles of despair and drama with friends and family members. Burdened with their problems and unable to steer them toward positive, healthy lifestyles.
After years of being taught by those closest to me that my wants, needs, and dreams were not important, I was left empty. Floating around my hometown without a home, family, or career. Desolate and desperate I retreated to the forest with a worn out notebook and began planning my next move.
I rebooted my life. I prioritized health, love, and growth. I learned how to recognize healthy relationships and avoid toxic ones. I rediscovered the enjoyment of listening to the life experiences of my peers and sharing words of encouragement when they are up against a challenge.
I pushed myself to do better. To earn more money, to attend college, to find a stable home. I pushed myself so hard I broke. For years I lived with chronic stress. It contributed to a ninety-pound weight gain, countless nights of staring at the ceiling wishing for sleep, and a withdrawal from friends and family.
Eventually my body had enough. I experienced a panic attack that mimicked a heart attack. Adrenaline flooded my body as I sat with a nurse in the emergency room, my senses disoriented by fear. My pulse was racing at 200 beats per minute and my blood pressure was 170/100 (“acute hypertension” in medical terms). My nervous system was in hyperdrive. My body was stuck in a reaction to a dangerous situation that did not exist.
All the hard work I had done to build myself a home, career, and life - yet I still found myself flat on my face, immobilized, at the mercy of my overstimulated fight-or-flight instincts. This burnout was avoidable. The weight gain, the sleepless nights, feeling isolated from those who care. These were all avoidable symptoms of stress!
It took months for my system to return to balance. As I rebuilt my life for the Nth time, I revived my passion for empowering people. The first person I empowered was myself! Instead of returning to the politically tense realm of climate action, I shifted gears to focus on learning about my body and mind.
I completed courses in Meditation and Mindfulness. I became a certified Weight Loss Specialist. One by one, I revitalized my daily habits to match what my body and brain needed. The weight gain stopped. I began shedding pounds and keeping them off. The panic attacks subsided. I learned how to recognize the early warning signs of stress – losing sleep, racing thoughts, appetite changes – and how to calm my system when stress is building up.
When I began sharing my experience with others I realized many others are dealing with a similar struggle. Stress and weight gain are real problems that we face every day! Is it any wonder that the Center for Disease Control lists heart disease as the number one killer of Americans? As I kept connecting with people suffering from stress and weight gain, I became determined to share my stress reduction and weight management techniques with anyone and everyone who is ready to release their old habits and start taking lighter steps…

A typical coaching commitment will last 6-12 sessions. During this time we will identify the causes of your stress and/or weight gain and walk the path to wellness together!
Throughout the process you will be in the driver’s seat and in control of your wellness decisions! We will collaborate to set goals, and make a plan to reach them. Along the way, we will discuss your lifestyle, the barriers you are facing, and the feelings that arise from making lifestyle changes. Coaching sessions are your safe space to be seen and heard. We will reflect together on what is working, what is not, and adjust accordingly. You will be learn best practices for goal setting, overcoming obstacles, and committing to healthy habits in your daily life.
