What Does “Belly of Resistance” Mean?
Belly of Resistance is a reference to two concepts:
1. Adipose tissue in the abdominal region that is difficult to shed even with exercise and diet changes (aka stubborn belly fat)
2. Political resources that provide an advantage during war
Our belly of resistance is the extra fuel we need to keep running when our energy is low, and to keep fighting when the battle has yet to be won
The purpose of Belly of Resistance is to strengthen the stress resilience and wellness of New England women impacted by recent actions of the federal administration
We refuse to bow to a bully. We will continue to resist the harmful and illegal actions of the federal administration whether we are working in the office or marching in the streets! A sustainable movement depends on the health and wellness of the people who are leading it.
Our bellies are reminders of our resilience. They are where we feel our intuition and where life begins. For too long society has shamed women for having excess belly fat around our midsections. Why? One theory is that it is meant to distract us from real issues - such as abortion access and gender equality by creating fake issues based on appearance. Another theory is that a hungry and weak woman will be less engaged with society than a woman with muscles and fuel!
Belly of Resistance is a space for women to embrace our bodies and celebrate our strengths. By learning how to take care of ourselves during times of extreme stress we will be better equipped to participate in and have a greater impact on local, national, and global issues. All Belly of Resistance workshops and support groups are FREE for New England women to attend! Please use the application form below to sign-up for the next session.
